The Secret inspiration Behind Penacony || Honkai Star Rail Analysis
Today I talk about the clear Gnostic inspirations behind Honkai Star Rail's Penacony planet, specifically the HSR 2.2 boss and brother Sunday and the clear inspiration from the Apocryphon of John. There are many things I didn't mention in the video such as Mikhail being called "the watchmaker" and so on, but I cared mostly about the central point. Hope you enjoy!

I still don't think i can hate ep 28. When i first saw it being younger, i always got that Pearl was likely homesick, lonely, and at a loss for what to do with herself without Rose around. Even at such a young age i could feel the pain she was going through. and i loved, and still love it to this day!

I know this whole series is 2 years old, but I've been watching it for days now and I've really enjoyed it. This Social Link always resonated with me, but especially now. My own terrible bio-dad passed just a few months ago as of writing this. Unlike Yumi, I never really forgave him, and couldn't find it in me to cry when he passed, but I can empathize with her nonetheless. It's unfair for children to be expected to love and be loyal to their parents even if those aprents have abandoned or neglected them. That we're supposed to forgive and move on just because they happened to contribute 50% of your DNA. In my case, my mom's bio dad had walked out on her family when she was 14, so when my dad became negligent and cruel, she made sure to tell my brother and I that no matter what anyone else in the family said, we did not owe him forgiveness or love. Dying doesn't absolve all the bad a person did in life. It's the choice of the people they hurt whether or not to forgive them - but it's never owed.

As a human physiologist, I think I can possibly offer further insight on the whole gender vs sex thing: (I'm sorry about the lowkey essay by the way) There's a principle in the human body called epigenetics--TL;DR, we used to think the human body contained 140,000 individual genes due to there being 140,000 different proteins that can be formed by DNA and RNA, we eventually discovered there were actually only 20,000 genes and that the way 20,000 genes can form 140,000 proteins is that some genes "team up" with others to do so with others going dormant until they have to "team up" with a gene to form certain proteins. Basically, you can think of genes as being able to be "switched on/off", depending on the environment the body finds itself placed in. Something that I think many miss in this eternal back-n'-forth about gender and sex is that both sides can be true at once: there is a fundamental biological difference between male and female with certain traits being attributed to each gender on a fundamental biological level, but that doesn't mean our expressions of our genetics can't place us in an entirely different place than hard one way or hard the other way. If you were born as a biological male, but you're raised in an environment that makes your body perceive inherent danger in being male, your body can and will absolutely downregulate the activation of certain genes that relate to the biological traits one would expect from a male, and upregulate the activation of others that align more with what's "understood" as inherently feminine to better fit this environment, thereby leading you to express what culture would define as traits of the opposite sex. Now obviously that doesn't mean you'll lose your male genitalia for female genitalia just because your body sees more benefits to displaying inherently feminine traits, but you'll probably see changes in things like hair growth, breast growth, even stature and voice depth due to this principle of epigenetics. People mistake this as being entirely up to hormones, and while they do play A role, what's driving their role, at the end of the day, is the body sensing more benefits to having them in different levels than previous--men who inject synthetic HGH, aka steroids, will have less HGH be produced by their own bodies because the body senses that there's already adequate HGH as is even though the synthetic HGH is ultimately only mimicking natural HGH. HRT is basically the procedure coaxing the body to change its genetic expression of biological traits by virtue of altering the estrogen/androgen levels in the body out of balance (which makes it sound more harmful than it is, but I don't know a better way to word it). This, I would wager, is likely why Money's experiment didn't pan out the way he likely intended it to: David was never in an environment where his body perceived an inherent problem with its current state, he was just simply told to do something. On a genetic level, you can't force your body to feel a certain way, it has to get to that point on its own, and it only does that through sensing internal levels of various things like hormones, inflammation, etc. and deciding they need to shift to maintain balance. Also, of course, a kid his age at that time won't even have the mental capacity for energy expenditure TO perceive an issue with their body's state by virtue of, y'know, having a body to grow, meaning Money's experiment was flawed from the very start. It's funny, looking through comments and seeing people say stuff like "the next time I see a pack of wolves, I'll make sure not to assume their gender", because this epigenetic expression is handled by our brain, with humans being unique in the world of mammals in the sense that we have frontal lobes, giving us the ability to perceive threats differently and more accurately than other animals. Epigenetics are absolutely present in wolves--that's why we have domesticated breeds of dogs today--but we don't see this type of behavior in wolves (or dogs, for that matter) because wolves and humans are biologically very different, with different brain structures designed to perceive and handle threats in very different ways, simple as that. So TL;DR: human physiology and human genetics dictate that sex and gender ARE different things, and feeling "wrong" being a certain gender rather than another is NOT simply "all in your head", it's the body sensing a problem that needs to be fixed due to the environment it's placed in. And while there are many ways to solve this problem, transitioning is a fine and valid way to do it, I say.

Lapis didn't blame the Crystal Gems for being placed into the mirror due to mistaken identity, she blamed them because they knew she was a person and intentionally left her imprisoned for eons. They even used her as a tool, which is very much a form of slavery. "You three knew i was in there, and you didn't do anything. Did you even wonder who i used to be?" The Crystal Gems were very much her wardens, and worked to keep her imprisonment continued. It's understandable why they were extremely suspicious of anything related to Homeworld, but they did do this to a Gem who had never shown them aggression in any form. I don't see this as a mark against the show, in fact i think it's a very refreshing pointer to the fact that sometimes the good guys do bad things.

"Sex is a bimodal distribution" This is precisely why in university, most biology students find statistics so difficult and fail. You people don't live in reality, and love to talk with so much confidence as you butcher, maim and disfigure other disciplines. I have absolutely no problem with a person telling me they choose to identify as something, because I was raised to be a decent person. But I fucking despise false intellectuals like you who, behind a screen, get to speak as if you have ever had any background in statistics. For the record, the statement "X is a bimodal distribution", is not even grammatically correct. No variable IS directly a distribution, it can follow a distribution. Secondly, sex is at minimum, even by YOUR argument, a categorical variable. Calling it a bimodal distribution is implying that sex is a continuous numeric variable. 3:39 "Some men are shorter than women, therefore sex follows a bimodal distribution". No. Sex is a categorical variable (binary or not). That doesn't invalidate the fact that height is normally distributed, thereby resulting in some exceptions (women being taller than men). Do you even know what the range of a Gaussian distribution is? There are an infinite number of possible heights for a person, due to the nature of the variable (something measured like weight). Ironically, when you treat a variable like a continuous variable, each individual possible value in that distribution, has an infinitesmall probability associated with it, which reflects how you wish people to view sex. "No one is in full alignment with the center of the male sex". Great. Now go and figure out what hypothesis testing is, and how statistics was built to quantify the significance level. Then learn what multivariate statistics is. If you're real, curious, perhaps you could read up what random forest algorithms or binary logistic regression algorithms are, and why they are able to to be trained to estimate the sex, or whether a patient is diabetic etc (categorical variable as an outcome), from a confluence of numeric variables describing the entity. You are free to defend people from discrimination. But I am so sick of people like you bastardizing statistics, and then I have to increasingly go around in life, hearing people abuse the phrase "there's lies, damned lies and statistics", in response to hearing arguments made in bad faith like yours, shrouded in pseudoscience.

something i never really thought actively about until this video was... to my memory we don't see any gems "die" in the series. knowing that shattering leaves pieces that live on and are able to be repaired back to life (ie. the cluster and the scene with yellow diamond in future), there's no ACTUAL death on that front. unless you count organic life on harvested planets, the diamonds actually have a body count at a grand total of... zero? not that lily would care, it doesn't suit her weird antisemitic retelling of the story lmao

There is a lot I could say, but I think it is worth noting that ideals and beliefs only hold when you keep them in difficult situations. If you truly believe in redemption and that you can reach people if only they make the effort to change, you have to extend that to people who have done bad things or it is meaningless. It is easy to say 'oh this person forced to do bad things should get a second chance'. Saying "this person who has done horrible things is still a person and should be treated as such' is actually holding to a difficult ideal. If Steven Universe had spent the whole show talking about self-improvement, forgiveness/redemption, and love, but then completely chickened out from actually extending that idea to the villains, it would have made the message much weaker. That isn't to say you condone or forgive the person's bad actions. It just means they are still people who can't be ignored so you can look like a good person.

This is literally how helluva boss haters sound look like. They misrepresent characters, thinking they're all one dimensional yet get pissy when a character shows a side of them that hasn't been established yet, saying it's "character assassination", and paint the creator as some bitch who can't handle criticism and don't know how to write characters.
